Dark Camouflage Patterns

These camouflage patterns have lower overall brightness than most patterns in the 247-pattern Pattern DNA reference set.

Why this visual trait matters

Darker structure can be worth examining in shaded timber, dense vegetation, low-light areas and backgrounds containing large dark masses. The same pattern may create stronger contrast against bright or open backgrounds, so darkness is a visual characteristic to match to the setting rather than a universal advantage.

What Pattern DNA measures: Pattern DNA compares overall luminance and the amount of dark tonal area with the reference population.
